Pound the Pavement for Peter Had a Record Year and Raised Over $140,000 to Make a Difference in the Special Needs Community!

This year’s Pound the Pavement for Peter was a huge success because of the corporate sponsors, family sponsors and over 375 race day and festivity participants. Over $140,000 was raised with proceeds going to The Adaptive Learning Center, The Global Foundation for Peroxisomal Disorders and The Medically Complex Care Program at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Pound the Pavement for Peter is an annual Family 5K Fun Run that was started in 2009 in honor of Peter Hopkins, who suffering from a Peroxisomal Disorder (PBD), lived his life with many disabilities, and eventually lost his life at age 3. This event is held to raise awareness and funds to help families and children with disabilities and debilitating diseases.

The support that the community has given over the years to Pound the Pavement for Peter inspired those involved to keep going and to have hope, even in the darkest of times throughout his life and passing.

Thank You Pound the Pavement for Peter for making the Adaptive Learning Center a 2016 Beneficiary!

The Global Foundation for Peroxisomal Disorders

The GFPD was started by parents of children with PBDs with the mission to assist families in enhancing the lives of children and to support research for the disease that took Peter’s life.

The mission of the GFPD is to help children and families faced with a Peroxisome Biogenesis Disorder – Zellweger Spectrum Disorder (PBD-ZSD) diagnosis and to assist family members and professionals through educational programs, research, and support services. Learn more - www.thegfpd.org

It’s through teamwork at every level of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and with you, the family, that we are able to achieve excellence in pediatric care. Learn More - www.choa.org
